In Mikoshi, Alt can use Soulkiller to separate V and Johnny into engramic data. Depending on the ending, an engram can be returned to V's body or leave with Alt. Whether that counts as survival is deliberately unresolved.
Relic Biochip
Relic stores and runs digital engrams; Relic 2.0 is designed for re-implantation into an organic host and uses Soulkiller-derived algorithms. It should not be confused with the capture process itself.
