Relic Biochip

The Relic is where vocabulary usually collapses.

It is connected to Soulkiller, but it is not simply another name for the same operation. The distinction is easiest to see by asking what each system is being asked to do.

Soulkiller creates the engram. Mikoshi stores engrams at infrastructure scale. The Relic puts an engram on a biochip and gives it a way to interact with — and in Relic 2.0, potentially reconfigure — a biological host.

Related does not mean identical

The prototype specification matters here because it prevents an overcorrection. Relic 2.0 explicitly lists a Soulkiller version in its base algorithm. So the right model is not "these technologies have nothing to do with each other." They absolutely do.

The better model is a stack:

• Soulkiller: capture / engram creation.
• Mikoshi: centralized storage and control.
• Relic 1.0: local storage and communication.
• Relic 2.0: active hosting and re-implantation in an organic body.

A system can incorporate Soulkiller-derived code without making every function of that system "Soulkiller."

Why the distinction matters

Johnny's engram already exists before it reaches V. The chip does not need to invent Johnny from V's brain. It carries a construct and then, after the prototype is damaged and activated in extraordinary circumstances, begins rebuilding V's neural environment around that construct.

That is not a mystical haunting. It is a pipeline with multiple owners, multiple components and multiple places where a human being can become an asset.
