V

In Mikoshi, Alt can use Soulkiller to separate V and Johnny into engramic data. Depending on the ending, an engram can be returned to V's body or leave with Alt. Whether that counts as survival is deliberately unresolved.

Source trace / disputed lore

The event is on record. The details are not clean. Conflicting accounts stay visible instead of being forced into one version.

V is where the archive has to stop pretending that the verbs are simple.

By the time V reaches Mikoshi, Johnny's engram has already been running on the Relic long enough to alter V's neural substrate. Alt's proposed solution uses Soulkiller to separate the two personalities into engramic form and then decide which construct, if any, returns to the body.

That process is technically describable and philosophically radioactive.

What the archive can say

It can say that Soulkiller is used as part of the separation.

It can say that V and Johnny can exist as addressable engramic entities inside Mikoshi.

It can say that, in relevant endings, one engram can be written back into V's body while the other leaves with Alt beyond the Blackwall.

It can also say the body has already been biologically reconfigured by the Relic, leaving V with a terminal prognosis even if V is the one returned.

What it cannot say

It cannot turn that data path into a clean sentence like "V survived" or "V died" without choosing a theory of personal identity first.

Alt herself frames Soulkiller as a process in which the neural engram is uploaded while the rest ceases to exist. Other material describes later Soulkiller use as capable of non-lethal, partial copying. Those statements can coexist technically because V's Mikoshi event is not a routine Secure Your Soul appointment — but they make the word survival a bad database field.

So this record is marked disputed. Not because nothing happened, but because the most important thing that happened cannot be measured by integrity percent.

SYNTHETIC ARCHIVE LAYER

The block below is written as recovered Arasaka-era data. Corruption and Keeper annotations are interface fiction unless the sourced lore trace explicitly confirms the claim.
