Saburo Arasaka

Saburo is the record that changes the political meaning of the technology.

An engram of him exists in Mikoshi while the biological Saburo is still alive. That fact matters more than inventing a precise capture scene the sources do not need to give us. The founder of Arasaka has a digital construct of himself kept inside infrastructure he ultimately controls, while the Relic programme is being pushed toward re-implantation in a new organic host.

In the Devil ending, that logic reaches its conclusion when Saburo's construct is installed into Yorinobu's body.

What immortality means when you own the stack

For an ordinary Secure Your Soul client, "immortality" means trusting Arasaka to create, store and govern a construct bearing your identity.

For Saburo, most of that trust problem disappears because he controls the institution on the other side of it.

He does not merely own a copy. He owns the vault, the research programme, the succession apparatus and — depending on the ending — the process that selects a host body.

The code does not need a special ethical mode for executives. Ownership does the differentiation outside the code.

That is why this record belongs beside victims of Soulkiller even though its circumstances are completely different. The same family of technologies can be experienced as capture, product or succession plan depending on who controls the system around the engram.
