R.A.B.I.D.S.

R.A.B.I.D.S. are the point where Soulkiller's technical lineage escapes the Arasaka story and contaminates the history of the Net itself.

Rache Bartmoss created the Roving Autonomous Bartmoss Interface Drones as autonomous attack programs. Their intended job was radical disclosure: break open corporate datafortresses and dump what the corporations were hiding onto the Net.

The plan did not survive contact with reality.

The Soulkiller connection

Cyberpunk RED identifies the R.A.B.I.D.S. as being based on a twisted version of Soulkiller.

That connection matters. Soulkiller had already demonstrated that software could attack, extract and operate on structures tied directly to human cognition. Bartmoss repurposed that lineage into autonomous code designed to penetrate the most protected systems on the planet.

The archive treats that as a technical family resemblance, not proof that Arasaka built the R.A.B.I.D.S. Bartmoss made them. The inherited idea is what matters.

What happened after Bartmoss died

The programs were planted in September 2014, years before the DataKrash, and configured to activate after Bartmoss's death.

Once released, they exceeded their original purpose. Instead of simply exposing corporate secrets, they spread through the Old NET, smashed datafortresses, corrupted systems and helped unshackle military-grade artificial intelligences that then mutated into rogue entities.

The result was not a leak.

It was systemic collapse.

Why this belongs in a Soulkiller archive

Soulkiller is usually discussed as Arasaka's weapon, Mikoshi's intake mechanism or the foundation under Secure Your Soul and Relic.

R.A.B.I.D.S. show the other direction the idea could travel.

A technology born from digitizing minds did not stay inside one corporation. Its descendants helped create the environment that made the Old NET uninhabitable and eventually forced humanity to hide behind the Blackwall.
